Yesterday was my second day off within the past 2 weeks.
(I have worked everyday except Father's Day and yesterday.)
Father's day was relatively busy/productive.
I woke up early and went to Mass at the Cathedral downtown with my dad, came home and wrapped presents, decorated the porch, and then we all sat down for a family lunch. Whilst still in a food coma, I lounged around and helped my Mary Lou with some gardening. She had a power trip with the hose and sprayed everyone/everything. She's funny. Later I went to Big Lots and CD Warehouse where I saw an old face and bought some new music. {Beach House's Teen Dream and Rilo Kiley's More Adventurous}. Good stuff.
Yesterday I woke up at 8:30, decided it was silly to be awake when I didn't need to be, and went back to bed until 1 in the afternoon. Sleeping in is probably the best thing ever.
I did absolutely nothing until around 6:00 when I met the lovely miss Ally Coy for some ice cream and adventures. We wandered about in the woods behind 3B's, cones in hand, and didn't find anything too exciting aside from some berries and basketball hoops/parking lot. We did see a dear though, which is exciting... so I lied.
After ice cream, we drove to City Island and walked around. We crossed the bridge and ventured forth into the city because we could. We walked down Front Street by the river and then up State and onto 2nd, making pit stops in Neato Burrito for refreshments, the Hilton, and the Train Station. We tried to sneak into the Hilton's pool--or rather, investigate if sneaking in was possible... it is not-- rode to the top floor, enjoyed the air conditioning, etc. We had never been inside the Train Station, so we walked the few blocks and wandered inside to find empty hallways and echoes, but it was cool and refreshing.
I love days like yesterday.
Just walking around, doing things on a whim.
For the sake of doing them.
Good day.
here's to hoping my next day off
